FULL BIO

Sherry Gordy is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, and award-winning entertainment producer whose life has been shaped by legacy, creativity, and purpose. The daughter of Motown founder Berry Gordy and songwriter and music promotions executive Jeana Jackson, she grew up surrounded by the music, vision, and pioneering spirit that transformed American culture. Yet Sherry was determined to create a meaningful path of her own.

Alongside entertainment, Sherry built a successful career in real estate and mortgage banking. A licensed real estate broker, she came to Las Vegas from California as a mortgage branch manager and went on to open branches around the country. She later served as a vice president for another lender and ran her own online mortgage company. Today she holds her broker’s license with Rodeo Realty in Beverly Hills.

Sherry made her entrance into the entertainment industry in 2004 with “Tickle Me Tuesdays Comedy Jam,” an urban comedy show at the Blue Note showroom at the Aladdin, now Planet Hollywood, featuring comedians from across the country, including Reynaldo Rey, Luenell, JB Smoove, and many more. She went on to create and produce the acclaimed “Sherry Gordy Presents: Take the Stage,” a Motown-inspired variety show that celebrated established artists while creating opportunities for emerging talent.

Across entertainment, philanthropy, and mortgage banking, Sherry and her teams have earned more than 80 awards and commendations, many shared with her band, staff, and executive team. Her recognition includes multiple top-producer honors in mortgage banking and community service awards for her philanthropic work. On January 20, 2015, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman proclaimed Sherry Gordy Day, followed by recognitions from U.S. Senator Harry Reid, Congresswoman Dina Titus, and Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval. On May 21, 2015, Mayor John J. Lee and the North Las Vegas City Council proclaimed a second Sherry Gordy Day. That same year, she received four Las Vegas BMAs, including Best Showroom Production, joined on stage by family, friends, musicians, and the community, because she has always considered those honors shared.

Giving back remains at the heart of Sherry’s life. She founded the Sherry Gordy Foundation to enhance the educational success, employment opportunities, and emotional well-being of children and young adults facing economic, social, and emotional challenges. The foundation is administered through the California Community Foundation.

Today, Sherry continues to bring people together through entertainment, philanthropy, and service. Her life reflects a deeply held belief: legacy is not only about where you come from—it is about what you choose to give.
